Violence Against Women

Despite growing awareness about the problem of violence against women in Mexico, Guatemala, and other parts of Latin America, investigations into cases remain inadequate.  Public policies still lack a gender perspective and police, prosecutors, and other authorities continue to use discriminatory terms and practices in cases of murdered women and violence against women.  Most importantly, women continue to be abducted and killed.

WOLA's work primarily focuses on encouraging the implementation of key reforms for strengthening criminal investigations and the administration of justice in cases of violence against and murders of women.
