Andesandes.1

The Andes region countries – Bolivia , Colombia , Ecuador , Peru , and Venezuela – are rich in diversity in terms of their historical, political, and socio-economic make-up. WOLA’s Andes region programs encourage US policymakers to look at the unique social and political elements in each of these countries that should play a role in determining US policy, at the same time emphasizing new ways to look at traditional components of US policy towards the region. These include drug policy, military programs, and trade and development, emphasizing within each of these the need for respect for human rights and programs to address widespread poverty and inequality.
