The United States and El Salvador have created a unique partnership designed to maximize foreign assistance through a targeted, inclusive approach to development. In 2012, El Salvador will complete the current $461 million compact with the Millennium Challenge Corporation. To date, all signals point to a second compact with El Salvador, which will focus on economic growth and poverty reduction in the country’s coastal zone and is shaped around the principles of the Obama Administration's new Partnership for Growth.

This panel, which includes representatives from the United States and Salvadoran governments as well as the private sector, will discuss the U.S. foreign aid agenda in El Salvador and its ramifications as a model for spurring inclusive growth among other emerging market economies in Latin America and elsewhere. In this time of reduced resources and necessary budgetary cutbacks, ensuring the efficient use of U.S. tax dollars towards real country-led, inclusive growth is an imperative. We hope that you can join us for this timely discussion.

This briefing is being held in conjunction with the office of Congressman Sam Farr Representative for California’s 17th District
