Amidst discussions of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement and the visit of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe to Washington to promote the agreement, leaders of Afro-Colombian internally displaced civil society presented testimony to the U.S. Congress on violations of Afro-Colombian territorial and human rights as a result of paramilitary involvement in economic development projects in the Chocó region of Colombia.
