Colombia’s Indigenous Express their Opposition to the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement

The National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (ONIC), representing 84 distinct indigenous groups within Colombia, explains their opposition to the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement as it is currently negotiated in a letter to U.S. Members of Congress. These indigenous peoples believe the agreement will further weaken their territorial rights and increase the presence of armed actors associated with development projects in their territories.
