24 Senators Call for a Change in U.S.-Cuba Policy

Today, twenty-four U.S. Senators called on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to re-examine U.S.-Cuba policy

U.S.-Cuba policy has failed say twenty-four United States Senators in a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice asking her to re-examine U.S. Cuba policy.

Joining their more than 100 colleagues in the House who released a companion letter last week, the Senate letter released today urges Secretary Rice to take a fresh look at a failed policy.

"Our policy based on sanctions, passivity, and waiting should end. We need a new approach that defends human rights, is confident about the value of US engagement with Cubans, builds new bridges between American and Cuba, and seeks every possible avenue of increasing American influence."
