The Brookings Institution hosts Geiler Romaña of the Association of Internally Displaced Afro-Colombians (AFRODES), with commentary by Gimena Sánchez of the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA). Romaña spoke about the crisis of internal displacement in Colombia, emphasizing his concern for Afro-Colombians, as well as women and children, who represent a large percentage of the internally displaced persons. He called for action on the part of the Colombian government to respond to the root causes of displacement among these communities.
