In a November 18 letter to Colombian Attorney General Eduardo Montealegre, WOLA joined Colombian and international individuals and civil society organizations in calling on the government to investigate the recent rash of “femicides” in Buenaventura. The wave of paramilitary violence has left 12 women brutally murdered this year and the security situation in this key port continues to deteriorate.
