In a November 18, 2014 letter to Alfonso Prada, the Director General of SENA, Colombia’s public job training school, WOLA expresses concern over threats and attacks–some by state security forces–against students and union leaders at the school. In addition to widespread death threats against SINDESENA, the union representing many of the school’s employees, the school and local police have engaged in violent responses to peaceful protests. In the letter, WOLA calls on Prada to meet with the union and respect their legitimate right to free speech and association.
