Letter to Colombian President on the Security Situation of Rep. Iván Cepeda

In a letter to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, WOLA, Human Rights Watch, Latin America Working Group, and the U.S. Office on Colombia express concern over recent news of a plot to assassinate prominent Colombian congressman Iván Cepeda. Rep. Cepeda has been a leading figure in exposing links between the Colombian government and paramilitary groups. This latest threat comes after the Attorney General reopened the case looking into ties between former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe Vélez and paramilitaries.
