Refugees of the armed conflict: Colombians seeking refuge in Ecuador

Sister Janete Ferreira, an expert on internal displacement, migration, refugee, and trafficking issues, presents on the increasing number of Colombians fleeing into Ecuador to escape the armed conflict. These persons face a precarious legal system in dire need of reform. With an estimate of 150,000 to 250,000 undocumented refugees on the Ecuadorian border, Sister Janete Ferreira proposes alternatives for the international community to adequately manage and assist this unheralded refugee population.
