Rep. Ellison to Colombian Labor Minister: Where is the Progress on Illegal Subcontracting?

In an October 29 letter to Colombian Labor Minister Rafael Pardo, Congressman Keith Ellison expressed his concern over continued labor subcontracting in Colombia. The letter outlines how widespread subcontracting has curbed Colombians' abilities to organize to demand fair wages, basic job protections, and pension and health benefits.

The change from the CTA to the SAS model of subcontracting, Ellison goes on to explain, has failed to ensure greater worker protections. Instead, workers continue to be routinely denied their right to free association.
