Special Report: Increased Arms Sales in South America

The Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) is pleased to share a new report on arms purchases in South America. In recent months, South American defense spending has increased significantly. Whether or not you consider it an arms race, the situation deserves our attention.

"Arms-R-Us: South America Goes Shopping" provides a country-by-country look at recent weapons agreements. The report looks at the effects of increasing arms sales on an already tense environment, and it points out the potentially negative impact if these changes are not accompanied by communication and transparency.
