The Impact of Global Drug Policy on Women: Shifting the Needle (2020) is the most comprehensive repository of data, research and lived experiences on the diverse ways in which global drug policies impact on women.
Addressing the lack of attention to the experience of women, the book details the challenges they face worldwide in accessing appropriate treatment and harm reduction services, the stigmatization and marginalization resulting from engagement in illegal drug markets, exposure to violence, and the disproportionate impact of punitive drug laws on women and their families.
This Vienna launch is an opportunity for several authors of the book to share their experiences and research, and discuss options for addressing and redressing the harms faced by women in global drug policies.
