While Venezuela’s political crisis increasingly resembles a stalemate, Venezuelan civil society remains committed to defending human rights, democracy, and social justice. A growing number of voices are adopting new and creative forms of nonviolent demonstration to speak out against repression and call for a peaceful, democratic solution.
As the Maduro government continues to restrict civil liberties and repress political dissidents, activists on the ground are more engaged than ever, launching new initiatives to encourage civic participation. The international debate around the crisis is increasingly dominated by competing geopolitical interests, but many Venezuelans on the ground are working to refocus the conversation in a way that emphasizes their political, social, and economic rights. Laboratorio Ciudadano has played a leading role in these efforts, and is working to advance innovative strategies across class lines that favor political engagement and inspire positive change in Venezuela.
Please join for an in-depth discussion of the ways in which Laboratorio Ciudadano is using creative approaches to engage citizens and reshape the political narrative around Venezuela’s crisis.
