Assistant Director for Philanthropy

Angela Melendez

Angela Melendez is the Assistant Director for Philanthropy and fosters relationships with WOLA’s growing community of individual supporters. Working closely with the Partners’ Council, she partners with WOLA experts to keep donors engaged in WOLA’s work and identify new fundraising opportunities. She also manages the WOLA annual benefit gala, maximizing partnerships and impact to celebrate defenders of human rights in Latin America.

Before joining WOLA, Angela was a Project Manager in Corporate Social Responsibility at the Quicken Loans Community Fund where she led nationwide projects that engaged the Rock Family of Companies’ team members in community driven initiatives. This included developing employee giving programs, volunteer engagements, and running point on investments that positively impacted the community.

During which, she completed business study abroad programs in both Italy and China, and led students through a week of nationwide community projects focusing on social justice issues (also known as Alternative Spring Break).
