Julia Aikman Cifuentes

Julia Aikman Cifuentes is the Central America Program Associate at WOLA where she conducts research, produces written materials, coordinates outreach, and provides programmatic support. Before joining WOLA full time, Julia was a Research Fellow for WOLA’s Central America Monitor, for which she provided research and report revision on institutional strengthening and violence prevention in the Northern Triangle.

Julia graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s in International Relations and a minor in Latin American Studies. Due to her family’s roots in Ecuador, after school, she moved to Quito, Ecuador, where she worked as a research assistant on two projects for the University San Francisco of Quito. There, she conducted independent field research on topics of food sovereignty and land rights. Julia also interned for Let’s Do It in La Paz, Bolivia, facilitating media partnerships and volunteer coordination for an environmental campaign.
