WOLA: Advocacy for Human Rights in the Americas
Program Theme

U.S.–Cuba Relations

The fifty-year-old embargo on Cuba has failed to promote human rights or democracy and instead has isolated the United States from the region. Recent years have seen modest but meaningful policy changes, including the expansion of people-to-people travel and Cuban-American family travel, but further reforms are needed. WOLA promotes policies of engagement with Cuba to normalize relations and improve the human rights situation on the island.
