WOLA: Advocacy for Human Rights in the Americas

U.S.–Cuba Relations

WOLA has long opposed the counterproductive U.S. embargo on Cuba, which has failed to promote human rights, done nothing to encourage political or economic reforms, and instead isolated the United States from the region. The Obama administration eased restrictions and took a number of important steps towards normalizing relations with Cuba. In a difficult environment, WOLA seeks to defend and advance those gains and promote policies of engagement.
