The Argentinean Orchestra of Indigenous Instruments and New Technologies (OIANT) will be stopping in Washington, DC, as part of their 2026 U.S. Tour. OIANT is dedicated to revitalizing pre-Hispanic Indigenous musical instruments and cultural traditions of the Americas and connecting them with contemporary artistic creations and new technologies. It is directed by the composer Alejandro Iglesias Rossi.
Based at the National University of Tres de Febrero, located in Buenos Aires Province, OIANT recreates and brings to life pre-Columbian instruments recovered from archeological museums and indigenous communities in the Amazonas, Andes, and Mesoamerica. Their concerts are described as a “shamanic orchestra of the technological age.”

OIANT will share the history and significance of these instruments, their connection to the Indigenous communities of the Americas, and the importance of preserving this living cultural heritage. They will spark a conversation about memory, human rights, and the historically marginalized voices that the project seeks to honor through music and artistic creation. A short documentary of their work will be shown. Ofunshi Oba Kosso, Shaman/Babalawo and President of Colombia Acuerdo de Paz NGO, will present on the importance of preserving ancestral cultures and rituals, and a discussion will follow.
