Stephanie Brewer is the Director for Mexico at WOLA. She advocates for policy improvements on both sides of the border to protect human rights and support the rule of law in Mexico in areas including access to justice, gender equality, and strategies to address serious human rights violations. She monitors the impact of U.S. policy toward Mexico and advocates for the U.S.-Mexico relationship to place human rights at its center and to prioritize the well-being of the population.

Before arriving at WOLA, Brewer worked in Mexico for over 13 years at the Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Human Rights Center (Center Prodh), including more than 11 years as Coordinator of its International Department. Her work included documentation, advocacy, and international litigation in numerous cases of torture, disappearance, extrajudicial execution, arbitrary detention, and other human rights violations committed throughout the country. During her time at Center Prodh, she worked with survivors, international human rights bodies, international and local NGOs, government institutions, and other actors to improve protection for human rights and access to justice.

Brewer has written extensively on human rights issues in Mexico. She is a member of the Executive Council of the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT).
