Please join the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA), el Centro de Estudios Legales y Sociales (CELS), Dejusticia, and Conectas for an upcoming webinar:

As Venezuela’s humanitarian and economic crisis has worsened in recent years, nearly 6 million (5.67 million) Venezuelans have fled to neighboring countries, sparking the largest mass displacement in the hemisphere’s recent history. While some countries have taken steps to welcome Venezuelan migrants and refugees, significant obstacles remain to accessing regular status and basic services in their host countries. Meanwhile, the need for a humane and inclusive response to fleeing Venezuelans is urgent, with the COVID-19 pandemic presenting new challenges such as border closures, restrictions on access to asylum and regular status, and a rise in xenophobic discourse against Venezuelans. In the face of these challenges, civil society and human rights organizations throughout the region are working tirelessly to advocate for Venezuelan migrants and refugees and urge their respective governments to adopt humane migratory policies.

Join WOLA, CELS, Dejusticia, and Conectas on Tuesday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m. EDT for a virtual event with experts from human rights organizations across the region working to support the needs of Venezuelan migrants and refugees in their host countries.
