WOLA: Advocacy for Human Rights in the Americas

Addressing the Root Causes of Migration

A large percentage of migrants crossing the southern border into the United States are fleeing countries in Central America, which have some of the highest rates of crime and violence in the world. WOLA works to advance policies that will address the root causes of violence and ensure accountable police and judicial systems. With partners in the region, we advocate for reforms that protect both the rights and the security of the population, and we monitor the impact of reform efforts on the ground.
