WOLA Expresses Concern About Killing of Colombian Community Leader

In a letter to Congress, WOLA and other human rights organizations and activists expressed their concern about the assassination of Felipe Landazury, Secretary General of the Community Council of Bajo Mira y Frontera in Colombia, on June 24, allegedly at the hands of paramilitaries. Landazury was known to be opposed to palm oil cultivation in the collective territories. Atrocities against Afro-Colombians continue to occur even as the Uribe Administration claims that paramilitaries are dismantling.
