WOLA Saddened by Passing of Sally Yudelman

The Washington Office on Latin America is deeply saddened by the passing of long time friend and former Chair of the Board of Directors, Sally Yudelman. Yudelman died peacefully on October 24th of a brain tumor.

The Washington Office on Latin America is deeply saddened by the passing of long time friend and former Chair of the Board of Directors, Sally Yudelman.  Yudelman died peacefully on October 24th of a brain tumor. 

Yudelman will be remembered for her passion for social justice in Latin America. She carved out a notable career in the field of human rights and international development, becoming one of the foremost international advocates for women’s advancement in the developing countries, particularly in Latin America. 

"Sally was both a trailblazer for women working in international affairs and a model for all of us who care about social justice and building a world that is fair," remembers WOLA Executive Director Joy Olson.

WOLA's internship program is named for Yudelman because she was such an inspirational role model for young people wanting to promote human rights and social justice in Latin America.

SALLY WATTERS YUDELMAN Sally Watters Yudelman passed away peacefully on October 24, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Montague Yudelman; her two sons, Christian and Ethan Miller; her three stepchildren, John, Paul and Jane Yudelman; and nine grandchildren. Sally will be remembered for her love of her family and friends as well as her passion, energy and concern for social justice and the poor around the world. She was a trailblazer for women in the United States in the field of international development and human rights and an inspiration to her family, friends, former colleagues and countless numbers of young people. A memorial service will be held at St. Columba's Church at 4201 Albemarle Street, N.W., Washington, DC. at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Office on Latin America or the International Center for Research on Women.
