On November 7th, WOLA awarded Dr. Kathryn Sikkink with the 4th annual WOLA-Duke Human Rights Book Award for "The Justice Cascade." "The Justice Cascade" examines how, over the last three decades, a series of highly-publicized human rights trials have started holding state leaders criminally responsible for their actions. Weaving together personal experience, quantitative analysis, and case studies from Latin America, Europe, and Africa, Dr. Sikkink examines the development of the practice and the very idea of prosecuting state officials for human rights violations.
