(Marisa Montes)

Church World Service (CWS), the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA), and the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States invite you to the event:

CHILDHOOD THAT COUNTS:

The Impact of Drug Policies on Children and Adolescents with Imprisoned Mothers and Fathers in Latin America and the Caribbean

It is estimated that there are more than 2 million children and adolescents who have one of their parents deprived of their liberty in Latin America. Of them, almost half a million live in this situation due to the mass incarceration of people for minor, non-violent drug offenses.

Join us in the the launch of a study, produced by the Church World Service, based on the results of the fieldwork carried out in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, aimed at raising awareness on the impacts that this phenomenon has had on the lives of thousands of children and adolescents, which remain practically invisible to public policymakers in the region.
