Please join WOLA on Thursday, September 14 at 4pm ET for a very special event: Post-election Optics in Guatemala: Judicial Cooptation and Gender Violence.

Dr. Victoria Sanford will discuss her new book Textures of Terror that investigates the unsolved murder of Claudina Velásquez Paiz. This expert panel will offer an up-close appraisal of the inner workings of the Guatemalan criminal justice system and how it maintains inequality, patriarchy and impunity. The panel will focus on concrete steps for the international community to support democracy and rule of law in the post-election transition.
