WOLA Announces New Book Award for

Human Rights in Latin America, With Duke University

 

 Deadline for nominations for the WOLA-Duke Book Award has been extended to May 16, 2008.

    The Washington Office on Latin America announced today the first annual WOLA-Duke Book Award for Human Rights in Latin America. The award will be given in the fall of 2008 to the author of the best current non-fiction book published in English on human rights, democracy and social justice in contemporary Latin America.

             The award will be administered jointly by WOLA and Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

             This new literary award is intended to reward books that enrich the general public’s understanding of human rights issues in Latin America today while reflecting the highest standards of research. Books published in 2007 and 2008 are eligible.
