International Organizations Call to Find Political Solutions to the Armed Conflict and Cease Violent Confrontations in Cauca, Colombia

With at least 22 of the more than 120 cases of killings of social leaders, human rights defenders, and signatories of the Peace Agreement registered in 2023, the Department of Cauca in Colombia is in the midst of a serious humanitarian crisis fueled by the intensification of the armed conflict, and a general lack of educational and economic opportunities and life projects for its population.

The signatory international organizations urge the Colombian government and the illegal armed groups with a presence in Cauca to agree on the conditions to initiate dialogue processes that allow for de-escalation and put an end to armed violence in a comprehensive manner.
